Dirham (Silver, 30 mm, 3.11 g, 10 h), ʿAbbasid Governors of Eastern Sistan: Class IV. al-Layth (AH 200-204 / AD 815-819), Zaranj, without date. Khosrau-type bust to right; behind head, countermark ‘al-Layth / jāʾiz’ (‘al-Layth, current’ in Arabic); before head, ‘hwslwb’ (‘Khosrau’ in Pahlavi); in the margin, ‘bism Allāh. ḍuriba bi-Zaranj’ (‘In the name of Allah. Struck at Zaranj’ in Arabic). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; Pseudo Pahlavi legends to left and right. Album B90 (with countermark stamped on the anonymous type A80). Zeno-201040 (this coin). Rare. Minor edge crack and some weakness, otherwise, very fine.
